In our rookie season we made a lot of mistakes, so we learned a lot. Early on when the robot was not working we changed all the parts until we realized that we had blown a fuse, and the name stuck. :) Now we are THE BLOWN FUSES.
When we completed our first robot for the game, BLOCK PARTY, it did everything we asked it to, so we named it SUDO because we learned from a mentor we consulted about programming that the command "SUDO" was a override command and that the robot could not ignore any of these orders.
In our second season once our robot was completed it was perfect, the code looked great, and then it would not go. We named our robot " NOVA" in honor of the old car that did not sell well in Mexico, as that name translates to "no go" in Spanish. Luckily, once we troubleshot our code language and downloaded the correct 3rd party motors files, Nova acted more like a shooting star. Toby made up an acronym for our robot. Non, offline, vehicular, action. :)
We have continued our legacy of fun and creativity, and still strive to find meaningful names to express how much we love robotics. Last year, we designed a robot with a hook that would pull it up on the lander for ROVER RUCKUS. The hook looked a little like a pig tail, so we named our bot the BACONATOR!
Our robot is still taking shape this year, so we haven't named it yet, but we do have fun names for our parts - like the "Jiggles" grip. Stay tuned to see what creative name we'll bestow upon our latest creation!
